Rostec State Corporation has brought to market the IGLA, a fully domestically built small-arms system. The platform consists of a modular rifle and five types of cartridges. The integrated solution is designed for hunting and sports. The system will replace a number of foreign products which are now not available in Russia because of sanctions. 

The IGLA rifle is available in hunting and sports versions with 600mm and 420mm barrels. Sports versions have heavier barrels and are designed for maximum shot accuracy in shooting range conditions. Hunting versions have lighter barrels to ensure a balance between accuracy and convenience in field conditions. The system’s range of cartridges includes five 308 Win (7,62×51mm) versions with different bullets: hunting SP 150, Shakal 141, Shakal 160, Rocket 116 and sports Match 160. 

The offered solution have high fire accuracy. In particular, with a new Rocket high-velocity cartridge for shooting at 100 meters, the IGLA has an accuracy of only half a minute of arc (MOA) — spread of hits doesn’t exceed 15mm. This figure is at the level of the best premium hunter rifles and allows successful hunting even small animals at distances up to 400 meters. 

Fast disassembly into two parts and reassembly literally in one motion are among the advantages of the rifle. When disassembled, the gun becomes most compact and easy-to-carry, for example, it fits into a standard hunter’s backpack. The rifle has an adjustable trigger and adjustable multiple-direction stock. Wide range of sights and additional equipment is available for the rifle. 

OPTIMUM, BIOR and MAGNUM shotgun and canister cartridges are also made under Rostec’s brand name IGLA. VECTOR cartridges are another new solution. They contain a luminous element designed to visually track the shot. Moreover, anti-drone cartridges, which contain high-strength shot and can hit small drones at a range of up to 100 meters, are available. They are currently widely used in combat.
