Rosel holding included in Rostec State Corporation has completed construction of the Kraskino checkpoint at the Russia-China border in Primorsky Kray. Its capacity is up to 750 vehicles per day. The checkpoint is equipped with a system for container screening without opening. The checkpoint will make a significant contribution to the business activity between Russia and China.
Construction was carried out during two and a half years. During this period, about 70 facilities have been built, 16 lanes for customs clearance of vehicles have been equipped and more than 100 pieces of equipment have been mounted. Decision to expand the infrastructure was made in view of the rapid growth of freight turnover between Russia and China.
“Dynamics speaks for itself: the volume of trade with China has grown by 1/4 during the first five months of this year. Our challenge is to create reliable infrastructure at a rapid pace. We remove bottlenecks in the border network within a large-scale checkpoint modernization project. Following the Pogranichny checkpoint, we are launching the Kraskino, while the Zabaikalsk, the largest checkpoint at the Russia-China border, is at its active renovation stage,” said Andrey Nikitin, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation.
Traffic streams are segregated at the checkpoint depending on the type of transport. Work on equipping the border with the ST-2630P portal inspection and screening systems made by Scantronic Systems included in Toriy group, Rostec State Corporation, is in progress in the freight transport area. The equipment will be used to inspect containers without opening them and has a capacity of 120 vehicles per hour. The system can “see” through steel with a thickness up to 320 mm.
A separate modern building has been put up for people crossing the border, with comfortable inspection and customs clearance rooms. It is provided with high-tech equipment, passport control booths, X-ray scanning and other systems. Workstations made by RPC Rubin included in Rosel holding are available at the checkpoint to ensure operation of government regulating agencies.
