Tula-based Oktava plant operated by Rostec’s RT-Capital has developed an upgraded tactical armor kit within the Obereg product range. The outfit is lighter than its predecessors and features improved ergonomics and increased safety and survivability margin of armor plates.

The Obereg 2.0 is designed to provide personal protection against cold weapons, small firearms and injury caused by fragments flying at a speed up to 560 m/s. The outfit provides Class Br1 and C2 protection of vital organs, neck, groin, shoulders and collar zone. The body armor can come with Class Br4 armor panels to protect against 5.45×39 and 7.62×39 assault rifle cartridge bullets, and with stronger Class Br5 armor panels capable of stopping bullets from high-power 7.62×54 rifle cartridges.

The improved armor vest design incorporates a quick-release system in the shoulder and cummerbund areas allowing rapid armor kit removal, if necessary.

At present, Oktava has developed and produces on a large scale several armor vest versions: the Obereg for combined arms units; the Obereg-GR for deminers involved in mine removal operations; the Obereg-SN, a concealable armor vest, and the Obereg-INKASS for cash-in-transit guards, special communications personnel and couriers.
