Rostec has developed a modern personal survival kit (PSK) for pilots in emergency conditions. This is a special-design vest that is used by pilots and contains basic necessary items — water, signal flashlight, special compass, knife and first-aid kit. The kit has built-in armor and universal pistol holster, and is designed to better withstand flight overloads.
Factory-made survival kit vests haven’t been available before. PSK is necessary for crews during emergency landing or ejection.
“Rostec’s PSK vest is designed to increase aircraft crew safety in emergency. The kit includes a wide range of first-aid supplies, various signal devices, food, survival kit and ammunition. Large-scale production of the PSK vest will start in 2025,” said Rostec’s representatives.
A signal flashlight with an infrared module was designed for the new PSK. Due to this signal flashlight, a distressed aircraft pilot can be detected at night at a distance up to 3 km. The signal flashlight can give ordinary light, blue light to detect blood stains and also produce thermal emission. A dry compass is another innovation. It can work at ambient temperatures from +50°C to −60°C.
PSK also has a survival knife, first aid kit with a wide range of items, soft water bottle and additional container with water filter.
