Kurganmashzavod included in High-Precision Systems holding has delivered a next batch of fighting vehicles to the Ministry of Defence of Russia. These are the BMP-3 with additional protection systems, including the Nakidka (cape) camouflage systems, and the BMD-4M. The airborne assault vehicles have entered service ahead of the schedule.
The company’s team has reviewed the experience of the special military operation and improved the BMP-3. The new batch of the BMP-3 has got standard add-on protection kits, top attack protection kits and signature reduction means – capes.
The first ones protect a vehicle against broadside attacks at any angle. The second ones protect against top attacks, for example, against drone-delivered armour-piercing ammunition. The third protection components are capes (Nakidka) that reduce the BMP signature. They are made of a synthetic heat-insulating and radar-absorbing material. Thus, it becomes harder for the enemy to detect the vehicle using special means, for example, a thermal camera.
“Rostec produces a wide range of weapons and military vehicles. They include the upgraded BMD-4M airborne assault vehicles and the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles. Kurganmashzavod has dispatched a new batch of vehicles with enhanced protection. Besides the excessive armour, the BMP-3’s have got capes – fire-resistant covers that reduce thermal and radio signature of the vehicle. These solutions have considerably increased combat survivability of the vehicles,” said Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of the Conventional Weapons and Special Chemicals Cluster of Rostec.
