Kurganmashzavod included in High-Precision Systems has developed a new lightweight robotic chassis – the Karakal. This is a compact robotic crawler that may be outfitted with equipment for a wide variety of missions. The developer will showcase the new product at the Army-2024 International Military and Technical Forum.
The system is equipped with a remote control system (RTK-L) that includes cameras, thermal imaging camera, navigation system and jam-proof radio transmitter. The equipment is used to control the platform using a control panel at a distance up to 2 km, in particular, at night time. This considerably widens the system functionality.
The platform capacity is higher than 500 kg, cruising range is 150 km. The robot may be outfitted with miscellaneous equipment. Thereby the system may carry loads and fulfill other missions.
“Rostec’s companies are working on a whole range of robotic systems. These are ground drones, remote demining vehicles and other systems. One of the new products that will be shown for the first time at the forum this year is the Karakal. Its main advantage is a versatile design allowing the platform to be adapted to a wide range of missions. In addition, the robot has high running performance. It is a maneuverable, compact vehicle that can be used where conventional vehicles are hard to use. For example, in urban areas,” said Bekhan Ozdoev, member of the Board of the Russian Mechanical Engineers Union, Industrial Director of the Weapons Cluster of Rostec State Corporation.
