Since the date of establishment, Rostec’s National Air Ambulance Service has helped save lives of more than 30,000 people. The number of evacuated patients achieved 9,900 people during ten months of the current year. Air transportation was usually necessary for patients with heart attacks, severe injuries and strokes.
This year, the NAAS pilots have made 8,800 flights, that is 29% higher than the full year 2022 results. Ambulance helicopters are helpful in remote regions with adverse environmental conditions as well as in big cities with dense traffic.
“The National Air Ambulance Service is the essential social project for Russia. It is intended to provide emergency medical care services to people living in hard-to-reach regions and to patients injured in accidents. In 2023, NAAS coverage was extended to 60 regions of Russia and the aircraft fleet has grown to fifty nine Mi-8s and Ansats. Since the the date of NAAS establishment, more than 30,000 people have been delivered to hospitals, with 9,000 of them delivered this year. This is 22% higher than the full year 2022 results. Besides, our helicopters are adapted to evacuate the youngest patients. The track record of our air ambulance includes more than 4,000 saved children,” said Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rosteс State Corporation.
National Air Ambulance Service was established in 2019 as a single air ambulance operator. The project includes establishment of the ambulance helicopter fleet, 130 aircraft bases, mobile fueling system network, helicopter pads at more than 1,500 healthcare facilities.
