High-Precision Systems holding has first showcased a new small-size information landing system at the NAIS exhibition in Moscow. It will be used by small aircraft for safe landing, in particular, in adverse weather conditions. Due to the compact size of the system, almost any flat level surface, even drift ice, may be converted into an airfield.
The system includes two interacting units. The first unit is integrated into the avionics. The second one is deployed on the ground on special tripods. The equipment features high accuracy. It locates an aircraft in a given direction with accuracy within 1 m. The system will be used by pilots for safe landing in limited visibility conditions, for example, during a snowstorm.
The solution is especially important for remote regions with severe climate, where aircraft may use non-instrument temporary airfields and sites. Moreover, the system may be used for landing on moving objects, for example, a ship or ice. The latter may be used by Arctic research expeditions.
