Test results proved full compliance of the airplanes with Russian and international aviation regulations

United Aircraft Corporation has completed an additional certification flight test program for the МС-21, SJ-100 and Il-114 in natural icing conditions. Flights were performed from Talagi international airport in Arkhangelsk from 12 to 30 March. 

“During testing, the aircraft were flying from four to seven hours over the the White Sea coast, in the Kola Peninsula and Naryan-Mar region. The SJ-100 made nine flights under the additional certification test program in natural icing conditions, the МС-21 made six flights, and the Il-114 made eight flights. The tests have shown that the МС-21, SJ-100 and Il-114 in natural icing conditions fully met Russian and international aviation regulations,” said Rostec’s representatives. 

A typical test flight from Talagi airport included several stages. In clouds, the crew monitored ice formation on aircraft surfaces using special equipment. Upon achievement of the desired thickness, the airplane took an altitude, at which the aircraft behavior in natural icing conditions was checked — stability, flight control, airborne system operation.
