'Rostec' and 'United Aircraft Corporation' sign an agreement on PD-14/PD-14A-powered MS-21 aircraft market promotion

June 27, during the 'Engineering Technologies - 2012' International Forum in the city of Zhukovsky the signing of an agreement between 'Rostec' and 'United Aircraft Corporation' took place

The parties have decided to enlarge the cooperation considering both 'Rostec' and 'UAC' interest in PD-14/PD-14A-powered MS-21 aircraft creation and domestic as well as global market promotion.

PD-14 is an advanced fifth generation turbofan. Its take-off thrust peaks at 14 ton. It was developed as a part of the 9-18 ton thrust turbofans series, based on a unified gas generator, and it is the first over last 25 years proper Russian product of civil engines industry. The new engine has unique parameters, significantly surpassing those of existing world counterparts. Advanced turbofan for regional jet is a bypass two-shaft turbojet without fan and core flows mixing and with a thrust reverser and effective acoustic treatment, and it provides for 12-16% less fuel consumption, 30-45% less emissions and lower noise level as compared to existing certified world analogues. Strict noise level demands will be met due to a new high-efficient fan and second-generation noise suppression system. May 30 the assembly shop of the enterprise produced and passed on for tests the first demonstration sample of the PD-14 engine.

PD-14 engine is being developed in wide cooperation between many of the 'United Engine Corporation' companies. 7 of 'UEC' enterprises participated in development and manufacturing of parts and units of first PD-14 sample: 'Aviadvigatel', 'PMZ', 'Star', 'UMPO', NPP 'Motor', NPO 'Saturn', FSUE 'Salut'. 'Aviadvigatel' from Perm is the chief developer.

Total investments in PD-14 development reached RUR70 bln. The certification of the engine is due in 2015, and serial manufacturing is to begin in 2017.
