Rostec will showcase its enterprises’ latest weapons and technical solutions at the air and defense exhibition LAAD Defence & Security 2015, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro from April 14-17.

The joint Russian exposition, organized as usual by Rostec, will present military and civilian high-tech projects from the corporation’s holdings.

“In Latin America, the most important region for us, we have already established with a number of countries strategic and trustworthy relationships that we intend not only to maintain, but also to develop,” said Sergey Goreslavsky, head of the Rostec joint delegation and Deputy CEO of Rosoboronexport. “Not only is Rostec conducting negotiations about the supply of its products, but it is also ready to engage with partners about jointly developing and manufacturing high-tech products.”

Rostec’s Latin American partners have expressed interest in the Su-35 multipurpose fighter yet, the Yak-130 combat training aircraft, the Mi-35M military transport helicopter, the Mi-28NE combat helicopter, the Pantsir-S1 antiaircraft missile artillery weapon system, and the Nebo-SVU radar. Potential customers have also been interested in learning more about Russian land-based weaponry, including the Tiger and Gorets-M armored vehicle series, as well as KAMAZ trucks.

Rostec will present to potential customers the Safe City information and telecommunications system, which enables operation teams to take effective action in predicting and preventing incidents and crimes, including during major events such as the Olympic Games.

Discussions with Brazil on the development of infrastructure projects are expected to take place. At a meeting of the BRICS Business Council in December 2014 in Fortaleza, a proposal was announced for the joint development and production of energy and gas pumping units based on aircraft gas turbine engines.

The Russian exposition will include a presentation of the Mi-28NE combat helicopter; the Ka-52 combat reconnaissance and attack helicopter; the Mi-171Sh, Mi-171A1 (certified in Brazil), and Ka-32 (certified in Brazil) military transport helicopters; the promising Ka-62 multipurpose helicopter; and the Yak-130 combat and civilian training airplane. In addition, the antitank guided missile Kornet-EM, MANPADS Igla-S, and antiaircraft Pantsir-S1 systems will be presented.

Rostec’s Technodinamika Holding will be participating in the exhibition for the first time. It will be of special interest for potential partners because of its firing system for the new Russian civilian aircraft MS-21, developed together with Curtiss-Wright. In addition, the Technodinamika aviation service center will be of interest in providing the direct supply of aviation component parts in Latin America, where more than 100 Mi-8/17 helicopters and 18 Su-25, 31 MiG-29, and 70 MiG-21 aircraft are in operation. Currently, Technodinamika delivers to these countries through Rosoboronexport.

All-Russian Scientific Research Institute Signal, which is part of High Precision Systems, will present the Kapustnik-B automated artillery fire control system designed for automated fire control for self-propelled artillery units on wheels.

Among other products, Shvabe Holding will present an innovative next-generation thermal sight, which is ahead of Russian and foreign analogues in terms of its frame rate, the angular field of view, and duration of continual operation.

Rostec’s Russian Helicopters will continue its negotiations with regional partners to supply helicopters for the military, police forces, and rescue workers.

LAAD is Latin America’s largest defense exhibition and takes place in Rio de Janeiro every two years. The exhibition is held under the patronage of Brazil’s Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Russia will participate in the exhibition for the tenth time. In 2015, 140 official delegations from 61 countries are expected to take part in the exhibition.
