Russian Helicopters Exported First Mi-28NE With an Airborne Defence System

The Russian Helicopters holding company exported first attack helicopters Mi-28NE "Night Hunter" equipped with an airborne defence system. The most advanced system is designed to increase tolerance to battle damage and protect the vehicle against ground-to-air guided missiles equipped with infra-red homing heads.

The export version of the "Night Hunter" is also equipped with an upgraded communications system for radio communication of the crew with other aerial vehicles and ground control stations, as well as internal telephone communication between two pilots.

"Supply of the export batch of "Night Hunters" is an important event for the holding company as these vehicles set the new standards on the global market of attack helicopters. I am sure that Mi-28NE will prove itself to the best advantage on real battle missions which, without any doubt, will increase the interest of potential customers to this helicopter", noted the General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding company Andrey Boginsky.

Mi-28N (export version is called Mi-28NE) was named the "Night Hunter" by the Russian army for its ability to go on battle missions at any time of day or night. The vehicle is designed for fire support to advance ground forces, motor rifle and tank divisions.

One of the greatest advantages of the "Night Hunter" is its fire power. The helicopter is equipped with guided and unguided missiles and a flexible 30 mm gun. Besides, the "Night Hunter" is equipped with reinforced armour. All critical units of the helicopter and the cockpit are well armoured to ensure protection against armour-piercing bullets and projectiles up to 20 mm calibre.
