Shvabe Prepares for Installation of Pedestrian Navigation System for the 2018 FIFA World Cup

The Shvabe Holding Company, a member of the Rostec State Corporation, prepares for installation of a technologically advanced system for pedestrian navigation being developed for 2018 Fifa World Cup. The information stele prototype will be installed on the city embankment in the historic centre of Yekaterinburg where anyone will be able to test it.

The information stele built by Urals Optical & Mechanical Plant has no comparable counterparts in Russia. As distinct from foreign prototypes providing only reference information, the national counterpart could be equipped with a "citizen-police" button for emergency calls. It allows to quickly call the police and other services upon occurrence of an emergency situation. The stele can be equipped with a 24-hours audio and video recording system for monitoring of public spaces in the required field of view, as well as a WiFi spot and a USB hub for mobile devices charging.

The stele will contain a city map, important information in the Russian and English languages, and versions for visually impaired. The system will provide information on weather, places of interest, public transport, and will offer an opportunity to call a taxi or book a hotel room. It is expected that in June this year the Shvabe's "smart" guide will simplify the city navigation for foreign visitors and become a source of relevant information on the events of the FIFA World Cup.
