Kaliningrad Amber Combine, which is a part of Rostec Government Corporation, restarted mining of “sun stone” near Yantarny town settlement where about 90% of world reserve of amber is located.
Last year 500 tons of mineral was found in Primorskoye field which is all-time record in the history of Amber Combine. At that time, in October 2018 the Combine completed the plan on mining ahead of the schedule. This season management of the company set the task of mining 450 tons of amber.
On 18th of March, on anniversary of Crimea and Russia reunion, specialists of the Combine found first nugget of the year weighing over 1 kg. According to Mikhail Zatsepin, General Director of the company, the stone was named “Crimsky” in honor of memory date for the country. Let us remind, that last year the company mined 18 unique nuggets weighing over one kilogram.
