For the first time abroad, Rostec State Corporation showcases the latest Citadel surface-to-air missile system at El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt. It can efficiently fight against various types of UAVs, in particular, using controlled destruction projectiles, and has proved its performance in combat conditions.
The Citadel is armed with 30 mm machine guns and is designed to protect fixed facilities against drones. The system is highly-automated — from target detection to target kill, and thermal imaging cameras and radar provide successful operation at any time of day.
“The Citadel surface-to-air missile system can fight with various type of drones. Its weapon structure includes smart projectiles programmed to destruct at a predefined point on the path. Such munitions cover enemy drones with a shrapnel cloud at right time, and much fewer munitions are needed compared with conventional ones. The system can effectively protect near-field zones of key facilities and is easily integrated with other anti-UAV systems within a multitier air defense system. The solution is showcased abroad for the first time, and high interest in the system is expected among foreign partners,” said Rostec’s representatives.
