The third Il-114-300 prototype joined a flight test program. The aircraft consists of solely domestically made systems and equipment, and is being created in cooperation with leading Russian engineers and manufacturers.
Two aircraft prototypes got off the ground at a time. The second prototype that undergoes the certification test program has made its 100th flight today and flew more than 280 hours in total.
The first flight lasted 30 minutes. The aircraft performed a pair flight over the runway at an altitude of 100 meters. Upon completion, the captain announced that the mission was fully fulfilled and the equipment worked properly.
The Il-114-300 consists of Russian systems and equipment, and has the domestically produced TV7-117ST-01 engines. The power unit leaves behind similar foreign products in terms of performance. It has the increased takeoff power and includes a new AV112-114 propeller with an increased thrust of 4 tons.
The new regional Il-114-300 has improved performance, uses more composite materials, and is provided with a new digital flight and navigation system. Almost all main systems of the aircraft were improved with special focus on enhancing cockpit ergonomics.
The Il-114-300 is a regional passenger jet with a maximum capacity of 68 seats. It will replace the An-24, ATR-42/72, Bombardier Q-300, CRJ-100/200 for local airlines. The Il-114-300 will be able to fly in autonomous mode from relatively small airfields. Moreover, it is intended to be used in polar regions.
