Rosel holding included in Rostec State Corporation has started developing an airborne TV system for a new Russian orbital station project. The new TV device range includes 2K and 4K cameras as well as video data encoding, decoding and conversion units. The new equipment will be used for making high quality images both inside and outside the station in different light conditions, even in very bright light.
The equipment is being developed by the Television Scientific Research Institute included in Rosel. The external view cameras designed by the company will be installed outside the station and are able to transmit 2K video data. Internal view cameras will be placed inside the spacecraft and are able to transmit 4K video data via Ethernet. This will make the best use of the onboard network resources. High quality images transmitted to the Earth will be achieved by means of new specialized encoding/decoding units.
Multitasking will be one of the key advantages of the new system offering display of information from several sources on a single screen. Real-time video transmission will be also available enabling the crew to respond quickly to any changes and for video conferencing.
The cameras are designed for operation in various light conditions, even in very bright light. This will provide high quality images both inside and outside the station, and the built-in self-testing mechanisms will provide prompt troubleshooting.
