Technopromexport, Rostec’s subsidiary, has completed the Udarnaya HPP project in Krasnodar Krai. The plant has been put into operation, all three power units have started delivering electrical power to the wholesale electricity market. The domestically built GTD-110M high-power gas turbine is first used as part of the project.

Entry of the Udarnaya into service improves the reliability of electricity supply to consumers in Krasnodar Krai and Republic of Crimea, and makes a significant contribution to strengthening the national energy security. This is the most advanced combined cycle heat power plant in Russia.

“The project has implemented cutting-edge engineering solutions. The total installed capacity of the power plant is 560 MW. Special mention shall be made of the third power unit and its main generating equipment — Russia’s first high-power gas turbine GTD-110M. Power machines of this class have been supplied from abroad so far. Therefore today’s event is double more significant for the national energy sector,” said Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rosteс State Corporation.

The first two power units of the new HPP are based on two high-performance combined cycle units with a total power of 450 MW. In addition, the power plant has first used the domestically built GTD-110M high-power turbine as part of the generating equipment. Specifications of the Russian turbine are comparable with that of similar foreign machines, moreover, it is much more compact and light-weight than the foreign ‘classmates’.”
