Ruselectronics holding has developed a software module on the basis of artificial intelligence for predicting natural hazards — storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions. The new software has become part of a weather and ice monitoring system. The upgraded system can on its own “see” the focal points of natural hazards and forecast their future path according to contributing factors.

The Forecasting (Prognozirovanie) module launched as part of weather station software is able to receive, process and analyze meteorological and geophysical data arriving from meteorological spacecraft. It tracks places of origin of storms, hazardous snow melting and earth shocks in mountainous areas, temperature rises in volcano locations.

The system uses land and sea surface temperature, airflow velocity, crustal, ice and snow movement data to calculate automatically the probability of a natural hazard. It can also forecast a probable path of the hazard, including across a particular local region.
