Rostec’s National Air Ambulance Service has provided emergency medical assistance to a newborn baby with heart disease. The air ambulance pilots have promptly delivered the baby to the Federal Cardiovascular Surgery Center and saved his live.

A baby born six days ago needed emergency assistance. Doctors found a serious cardiac pathology in the newborn baby. A NAAS helicopter flew from Vladivostok to a village of Luchegorsk and picked up the infant accompanied by a neonatal team. The baby received the necessary cardiac care as early as one hour after the departure.

“The distance from the maternity hospital, where the baby stayed, to the Federal Cardiovascular Center is about 300 km. The air ambulance has covered this way in an hour, while it would have taken several hours to do this by road,” said Andrey Perevedentsev, Chief Medical Officer of the National Air Ambulance Service.

NAAS has been operating in Khabarovsk for three years now. During this period, 480 patients were successfully saved, including 30 children, 25 of whom were infants.
