Technopromexport, Rostec’s subsidiary, Krasnodar Krai administration and Krymsk District municipality have signed a cooperation agreement for construction of new power units as part of Udarnaya TPP. The project aims to create Russia’s most powerful thermal power plant built in the post-Soviet period, whose total power output will exceed 1 GW. The expected volume of investments is about 175 billion rubles for the period until 2030.
Udarnaya TPP was built by Technopromexport. Commissioning took place in autumn 2024. The total output of three power units at the plant is currently 560 MW.
Construction of new generating capacities in the Krasnodar Krai is driven by a rapid growth of the region, power consumption of which has been breaking records from year to year. Extension of Udarnaya TPP is the best solution in terms of commissioning times of new generating facilities. Implementation of the project will provide the required resource for planned large-scale investment projects, including federal ones.
TPP on the Taman Peninsula was the first power plant to use the GTD-110M, a domestically built high-power turbine, as part of the generating equipment. This machine was created by United Engine Corporation (included in Rostec) to replace foreign equipment of the same class and is currently produced in series.
Entry of the Udarnaya into service has improved the reliability of electricity supply to consumers in the Krasnodar Krai and Republic of Crimea, and made a significant contribution to strengthening the national energy security.
