Technopromexport included in Rostec State Corporation has completed integrated testing of the second power unit of Udarnaya HPP in Krasnodar Krai. The equipment worked 72 hours in the rated power mode and demonstrated the claimed performance. The power unit provided full power output to the Unified Energy System of Russia.

Capacity of the second power unit is 230 MW. The total capacity of Udarnaya HPP is 560 MW. The power units use natural gas as the primary fuel. The plant will supply electricity to the housing and utilities sector and industrial facilities in Kuban.

“Electrical energy projects are one of the business priorities of Rostec State Corporation. Udarnaya HPP is the example of Russia’s capability to build such large-scale projects on its own in harsh sanction conditions. The plant in Taman will allow energy deficiency in the region to be reduced and reliability of Russia’s grid as a whole to be increased,” pointed out Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation.

The plant’s generating equipment will include domestically built GTD-110M high-capacity gas turbine made by Rostec’s United Engine Corporation. The GTD-110M is the first domestic power plant of such class which is designed to replace foreign counterparts. Efficiency of the machine is more than 36% which is comparable with the best foreign gas turbine engines.
