Tula-based Oktava plant operated by RT-Capital has extended the Obereg product range. The company has created an outfit modification for humanitarian demining engineers. The new armor vest features an increased ballistic protection area and low weight – only up to 5 kg.

The Obereg-S version designed for bomb technicians has Class S2 and Br 1+ ballistic packages instead of ceramic armor plates. They ensure protection against the PMN-1, PMN-2 and PMN-4 anti-personnel landmine fragments as well as against pistol bullets and fragments.

The armor vest has a special groin pad, that allows working in a one-knee position, and a reinforced collar with vertical and horizontal adjustment, that allows using a helmet with visor. When working, a bomb technician has the visor behind the collar to prevent penetration of fragments in the neck and face areas.

The modified Obereg-S includes a support belt. This has a reinforcing effect on the spine and ensures reliable lumbar fixation and support. In addition, the armor vest has a half-litter system for emergency medical evacuation, if required.
