The first Kaliningrad Amber Combine brand store has been opened in a Chinese Mecca for amber — Bao'an District in Shenzhen. The Russian company has supplied 1 000 finished items made of Baltic amber to a franchisee in the Middle Kingdom. The pilot store with an area of 115 m2 with the Kaliningrad Amber Combine sign in Chinese and Russian is located Shenzhen’s amber trade center.
“Shenzhen is the largest exporter among other Chinese cities and is widely thought to be a kind of gateway for investments and new technologies. Russian amber industry with Rostec’s Kaliningrad Amber Combine being its leading representative has been extensively developed over recent years. The Amber Combine currently produces about 150 000 items every year. Jewelry is created using state-of-the-art processing techniques. The Combine updates its collections at least twice a year. By opening our store in China we are aiming at establishing long-term cooperation and are eager to increase the supply of our products,” emphasized Mikhail Zatsepin, General Director of the Kaliningrad Amber Combine.
Negotiations between the Chinese and Russian partners on direct distribution of finished amber products to the People's Republic of China were held during the Expo 2023. License and distribution agreements were eventually signed according to which a retail store chain is being established under a franchise granted by the Amber Combine. After Shenzhen, there are plans to open outlets in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
