The RD-107А/RD-108А rocket engines made by Samara-based facility of United Engine Corporation ensured a successful launch of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle with the Progress MS-29 cargo spacecraft. Two and a half tons of cargo will be delivered to the International Space Station for life support of long-duration Expedition 72.
The Soyuz-2.1a with the Progress MS-26 cargo spacecraft was launched today, 21 February, at 15:22 Moscow Time from launch complex No.31 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. UEC-Kuznetsov’s RD-107А/RD-108А rocket engines installed on launch vehicle stages I and II worked properly.
The Progress MS-29 cargo spacecraft is to deliver 2 487 kg of cargo to the International Space Station, including 1 155 kg of instruments and equipment for the station systems, science experiment kits, clothing, food, medical products and personal care items for the 72nd long-duration expedition crew, 869 kg of fuel for station refueling, 420 kg of drinking water for the crew and 43 kg of nitrogen for ISS atmosphere replenishment.
